St. Philip's Catholic Church Choir
St. Philip's choir is dedicated to leading the congregation in quality worship. We sing at 10:15 mass on the 2nd through 4th (or 5th) Sundays. In addition, we sing on Holy Days and for special occasions and services.
The choir is composed of women and men, young and old, who love to sing and play their praises to God. All musical ability levels are welcome. We sing a diversity of music styles including contemporary, traditional, gospel, praise, and spirituals. While we usually sing in English, we have songs in Spanish, Polish, Latin, and Swahili as well.
We rehearse three Thursdays per month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. We meet, rehearse, and share a meal (snack) to foster our friendships and our musical progress. We also rehearse for one hour prior to mass each Sunday morning that we sing.
In addition to singers, we have a drummer, guitars, bass guitar, flute, and other assorted instrumentalists, who play each Sunday.
New members are always welcome, on a short- or long-term basis. There is a great deal of flexibility with scheduling. If interested in finding out more information or the next rehearsal date and time, please contact the music director, Carolyn Sawyer, at carolyn_sawyer@msn.com Junior and Senior High students are especially welcomed.
St. Philip's Catholic Church Children's Choir
St. Philip's children's choir sings at least two times each year. The choir is open to all children three years old and up. Church membership is not required.
We sing for Christmas Eve mass, December 24th, during the pre-mass caroling. Rehearsals immediately follow the 10:15 mass for the four Sundays of Advent. For specific dates, check the bulletin in late November or contact the office for more information.
Student instrumentalists are encouraged to contact the music director to explore playing for our community. Strong singers may contact the director at any time to explore available cantoring opportunities.
If you interested in finding out more information or for the next rehearsal date and time, please contact the interim music director, Carolyn Sawyer, at carolyn_sawyer@msn.com. Older children are especially welcome to assist with the younger children.
