Women of the Hawthorne Neighborhood and surrounding areas come together to build community through social, educational, and spiritual interaction. The group meets on the second-to-last Saturday of each month to share a meal and enjoy each other's company, followed by one of a variety of activities that might include a guest speaker, an outing to a special event, jewelry making or a yoga or exercise class. We conclude with shared prayer, praying for each other's needs, for our families and for our world.

In addition, as a group we often participate in neighborhood and church action and activities, such as: get-out-the-vote campaigns during election years, the Hawthorne Neighborhood spring clean-up and the St. Philip Peace Garden planting, St. Philip's Summer Jam Fest and Community Christmas Dinner, Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations, Hands Across the North Side and other PEACE Foundation initiatives.

Approximately thirty-five women in the community participate in the group, with an average of 12-15 at any given monthly meeting. Women of the group have assumed leadership positions and there is a leadership team that meets monthly to evaluate the previous meeting and plan future events.
